Capacity Building Program for Extension Functionaries on ‘Protected Cultivation Technology’

KVK Cuttack organized a 5-days training program for extension functionaries on “Protected Cultivation Technology” at KVK campus, Santhapur from 6-10 January 2020. A total of 25 no. of Krushi Mitras working as extension functionaries under Odisha Livelihood Mission participated in the program. The training module was developed and classes were imparted by the training coordinator, Dr Tusar Ranjan Sahoo, SMS (Horticulture) covering all aspects of protected cultivation technology. All participants learned about nursery management, types of greenhouse structures, low-cost poly and shade net house, and economics of protected cultivation during the session. In the practical session, the participants were trained about practical aspects of nursery management, drip irrigation, sprinkler irrigation, mulching, and trellis systems of crop production to get acquainted with the production technology of protected cultivation. One post-test practical evaluation, it was found 47% increase in their theoretical knowledge and 75% increase in their practical skill during the above training session. In the valedictory function, Dr. GAK Kumar, Head social science division cum nodal officer, KVK, Cuttack addressed the gathering and requested the participants to be the change agents in their field of works. With great appreciation, he distributed certificates among participants. Some Krishi Mitras shared the learning experiences during the training period. Dr. DR Sarangi, OIC, KVK, Cuttack motivated all to take advantage of KVK.
