Distribution of Soil Health Card to Farmers

KVK Cuttack organized Pre-Rabi Mela & World Soil Day awareness programme on the theme “Soils & Pulses: symbiosis for life” at ICAR- National Rice Research Institute on 5th December, 2016. Dr. Debaraj Panda, Ex-Director, WALMI, Cuttack and eminent Soil Scientist & Chief Guest of the programme laid emphasis on importance of soil health maintenance & distributed 470 Soil Health Cards. Dr. Himanshu Pathak, Director, ICAR-NRRI, Cuttack discussed about the importance of proper soil sampling and restitution of nutrients into soil for maintenance of soil fertility and getting optimal production. Dr. Amaresh Kumar Nayak, Head, Crop Production Division elaborated the importance of the day. Dr. Parshuram Samal, Head, Social Science Division asked the farming community to take the benefit of Central Govt. flagship programme on Soil Health Card. A hundred no. of farmers/farmwomen/rural youth from all parts of Cuttack district and Barchana block of Jajpur, twenty no. of school children, Scientists and staff of ICAR-NRRI actively participated in the programme. A leaflet on “Soil & Pulses, a comprehensive view” and a technical bulletin on “Scientific cultivation methods for participatory pulse seed production” released during this programme.

On this occasion an interactive technical session and poster session on the theme of the day was carried out. Dr. AK Nayak, Dr. S Saha, Dr. DR Sarangi and Dr. SM Prasad presented interactive lectures on the above theme and tried to solve the problems of the farmers and farmwomen.
